ANYWAY, despite this setback, we did have a costume party. A bit later than normal, yes, but November 12th is an important date in the regular BTTF universe, so we might as well celebrate that. Julia was nice enough to host this shindig -- I think she feels Marty deserves a break from being the regular party guy.
-Gypsy: She's just doing her part for the Greek house.-
Indeed. There's not too many pictures this time, and really, parties are fairly similar for us, so I'll just post the pictures with commentary for this entry. If my creator wants to be lazy, I can too.

I won't make any promises on when we'll update again. She's doing NaNoWriMo now. Hopefully we'll see each other again before the end of the month, though. In the mean time, the future is what you make of it!

Hello all! Sorry about the long wait between updates again – apparently our player has decided that she’s going to play American McGee’s Alice during most of October in honor of Halloween. The small population explosion we’re going through seems to have intimidated her as well.
-Gypsy: It is a lot of new families.-
Yes, but they’re mostly small families. . . . Well, anyway, she promises to make a list and a playing schedule for November (not that I think she’ll stick to it). In the meantime, we certainly weren’t going to let my birthday pass without a party! Not to mention we still had to introduce Martina to everyone properly.
-Gypsy: Heh, that went well. Five minutes in and she has to be put down for a nap.-

Heh, I know. Still, she got to see everyone, and they all got in a quick hello. That’s the important thing.
We didn’t have a particularly large party, given the circumstances – just close friends and family for the most part. Marty and Jennifer were naturally in attendance, as was Holly, April, and Julia. As we mentioned, Martina didn’t get to stay long in the party, but Gypsy brought her around and introduced her to everyone present before taking her to her crib.

For the most part, it was the typical party shenanigans. Everyone caught up with each other, shared the latest round of jokes – the usual social interaction.

I regret to say we also shared around that cold going through the neighborhood. Ugh, it made me wince to hear Marty coughing like that.
-Gypsy: I know, poor dear. And now I’m feeling sniffly again.-
Really?! I think it’s time I fired up the biostation and started handing out cures as gifts.

Either way, though, we had a good time. It was nice getting the whole family back together again for a little while. Julia's looking well, and she assures me she's enjoying college a lot.

-Gypsy: Same with April. Though my kid sister's really looking forward to graduating and moving in with Dave.-

And of course it was great seeing Holly and Marty and Jennifer. All in all, one of the nicest birthdays I've had.
-Gypsy: *kisses* Glad you liked it.-

In less birthday-centric news, Martina’s doing well as a toddler. I’ve kept her on a strict diet of smart milk so far, given its skill-boosting capabilities. She seems to like it.

And it’s paid off tremendously – i.e., she’s potty-trained. Talk about a nice birthday present.

-Gypsy: Plus, she also learned how to talk tonight. There’s nothing quite like hearing your child say “Mommy” for the first time.-
*smiles* I know there isn't. Hopefully she’ll grace me with a “Daddy” soon.

So far we’ve had no problem with her and the pets – Sigmund has shown little interest in her so far, but she and Einstein get along just fine. I wonder if her taste for pet food has anything to do with that.
-Gypsy: *laughs* I doubt it. Otherwise Einy might be upset she keeps eating out of his bowl.-

She really is a sweetheart, despite her natural grouchiness. She loves the toys I made her, especially the jack-in-the-box.

And she’s quite taken with her brother Verne.
Verne: *As I am with her, Father. She is a wonderful child. And I agree with her opinion on the jack-in-the-box. Most amusing.*

Glad to hear it. I’ll admit to being initially a bit concerned we’d have to acclimate her a bit more to robots, but she seems just fine with her brother being metal. Probably gets that from us.
-Gypsy: Given her sister is an alien, it didn’t surprise me too much. We’ve got one of the strangest families this side of Strangetown, don’t we?-

Yes, but I’d like to think we’re one of the happiest too.
-Gypsy: *grin* I'll agree with that.-
Anyway, not much else to say. Einstein and Sigmund are doing just fine. We're trying to make sure our attention's equally divided between them and the two-legged members of the family. It gets busy around here.

And our garden's growing nicely. The tomatoes have sprouted, and the fruit trees have flowered. We should be expecting a nice crop of fruit soon.
Verne: *Don't you mean fruits and vegetables?*
Technically tomatoes are a fruit.
Verne: *Oh.*

We're doing well. Still need to get back to running Docbots, but that'll come in time. At least I know now where we stand -- Rank 8! Amazing.
Right now, though, it's time for a nap. Best to sleep while Martina's sleeping. You'll see us again in time for Halloween, I'm sure.

Anyway, I have some important news about our "rogue" genetic experiments -- they've finally moved back to the neighborhood! Yes, after graduating summa cum laude, they've all moved out and into Twin Oaks Park proper. Now that the person who wanted them destroyed has been fired from his old job, they should be safe. And quite rich, if the housing allowance holds up. At least enough for a decent-sized dwelling.
Naturally, the occasion was celebrated by a party thrown by Jenny. Gypsy and Verne both attended -- I would have gone myself, but someone had to stay home and watch Martina.
Verne: *I could have done that, Father.*
I know you could, but you have to do it all the time. You deserve to go out and spend some time with your friends. I'll probably see at least Everett when we throw our own party.
-Gypsy: Yeah, he mentioned he was looking forward to that. It's weird -- I was talking to him for a while during the party, and it's amazing how much he looks like you!-

I know. His creator and I are fairly certain some of my DNA made its way into his genetic structure. He did pull samples from the employee files.
-Gypsy: Er, why do they have your DNA?-
The Labs are filled with Mad Scientists. Why wouldn't they?

Anyway, how was the party?
-Gypsy: Great! The usual mess of people having pillow fights and chatting and grabbing chips from the fridge.

Quite a lot of dancing this time, actually. Maybe because all the instruments were hidden behind the wall.-

Heh, that IS a change. Normally we all just ignore the radio. How was everyone?
Verne: *Doing very well. Eager to experience normal life, or what passes for it.*
-Gypsy: You should have seen Calvin and Suzy -- they were so cute together.-

-Gypsy: Certainly seems like it -- he proposed to Suzy during the party!-

Really?! That's great! I hope she said yes.
-Gypsy: Of course!-
Verne: *I believe the event was preplanned between the males -- Everett proposed to Jenny shortly afterwards. She accepted as well.*

Awww, how sweet. :) Takes me back to when I proposed to you, Gypsy. I was so nervous that night. . . .

Verne: *Jenny performed an odd ritual with catching and releasing butterflies. She said it was to symbolize them flying free from college.*

Well, not much more to say here at the moment. I've got to go get Martina away from the pet bowls again. Can someone tell me why toddlers find pet food so appetizing?

Poor Holly didn't have a good day today. I'm surprised she found the time to send me an e-mail about it.

How are things over in the cathedral? Hope Martina's doing well. I'm looking forward to seeing her in person.
Things around here have been -- kinda hectic, to put it mildly. I had a really bad morning. First off, I woke up with a nasty cold -- deep chest coughing. Not fun.

And then, once I was feeling better, I tried to cook an omlette, and -- let's put it this way: I'm really glad the fire department has such quick response times.

-Gypsy: She set herself on fire?! Poor Holly!-
I know! Thank God for the fire department, yes.
I'm okay -- a good bath and some time lounging in the snapdragon's pollen helped a lot. Still, that was not fun. We bought a new stove, but I stuck to eating gelatin the rest of the day, just in case.
Such incidents make me leery about baking as well. *eyes own stove*
Verne: *Perhaps I should do all the cooking? I'm more fireproof than you are.*
No, it's just an irrational fear. We've got a fire alarm too, we should be fine.
Other than that, it's been pretty quiet today. We're pretty much ready to open the flower shop. Would have opened it today, in fact, but my "little accident" kind of killed everyone's enthusiasm. We focused on filling up the last of the shelves instead. I'm still working on that Gold Badge so I can help Arazel more once the place gets going.

Even John helped a little! He makes some nice daisy arrangements.

The twins are doing great. Bryan had Chris Cho over today -- she brought along Jason Shaw (I didn't know they knew each other), but Bryan really had eyes only for her. They spent hours lounging outside and talking.

Luckily for them, Jason didn't seem to mind -- he and Derick hit it off, and they jammed together on the guitar and bass. Made for nice listening.

Honestly, I think Bryan and Chris have a bit of a thing for each other. He was charming her off her feet earlier. If they don't go out on a date soon, I'll eat my hat. (Of course, first I'll have to obtain a hat.)

*snrrk* But aww, young love. I hope things turn out well between them. Even first-time teen romances deserve to go well.
-Gypsy: Slightly bitter about your own?-
And hopeful nobody else has to go through that. Life's too short for harridans like her and Jill.
Verne: *Too short? Don't you and Mother take regular infusions of elixir to ensure a long life?*

Derick's doing well too. No girlfriend (or boyfriend) on the horizon, but he recently made friends with a kid named Amar. They both like snow sports and are eagerly awaiting the return of winter. Me, I'm planning on enjoying the heat as much as possible.

Derick's real love is skilling, though. I swear, this kid is going to have to change to Knowledge in college. He's just so perfect for it. He's this close to maxing out Creativity, and he got really fit working on Body. This kid does not stop!

Sounds like a Knowledger to me! Too bad we can't double up on Aspirations.

Arazel and Carla are doing great too. Arazel's working hard on the store these days. She's looking forward to the grand opening. Kinda sorry I delayed it by getting toasted. . . . And Carla just got promoted to Inventor! She's working on artificial pollination techniques, believe it or not. (Speaking of which, they're starting to talk seriously about adopting a kid. We may need to remodel the house a bit to fit all these people.)

So, I guess it wasn't all that bad a day. Would have been better if I hadn't gotten set on fire, but. . . *shrug* Anyway, see you soon!

I felt like going out for lunch for a change (Great Scott, it's been ages since we've been to a real restaurant), so after making sure Martina and Gypsy were taken care of--

Yes -- I headed down to Midnight Flows. Haven't been there in a while, and they serve a good shrimp platter. I ended up seated at the bar, next to a familiar face -- April!

"Oh, hey Emmett! Haven't seen you in a while? How are things?"
"Good, good. Been busy with the new baby."
"Yeah, I can bet. Just toddlerized, right?"
"Yup. It's nice to be able to interact with her a bit more. Though she's a very explorative child. Keeps getting into the pet bowls."

"Heh, I'm sure my parents are glad not to have that problem. Hey, was Gypsy just joking when she told me the kid only had one nice point?"
"No, unfortunately. We're hoping to change that."
"Yeeps, no kidding. Think she gets that from your dad?"
"I -- hadn't thought about that. It does make some sense, given his behavior. Hmmm."
-Gypsy: Yeah, that does seem a likely source. Ah well, we can teach her the benefits of niceness quickly.-
"I'd look into it. So why are you here?"
"Just needed to get out for a little. Felt like having lunch at a restaurant for a change.

"About the same. It's kinda boring at home these days. Not much to do besides paint and write my term paper.

So I decided to head out on the town and stir things up a little. Was doing karoke before you showed up."

Me too. She was quite the social butterfly at the club. Met up with Lorraine too -- talked quite a bit about David. I heard her say she sometimes sleeps in his bed because she misses him.

Then later she was making the rounds with someone new. Can't remember the last time I really went outside our social circle.

But yes, very good to see her again. I like having such an accepting in-law family.

Our favorite hardworking bakery couple plans a vacation, and they end up getting nasty colds the day before they leave. Suppose it comes with the territory when you're exposing yourself to a large number of Sims, but still. Nothing like deep-lung coughing to ruin your mood.

Verne: *It is all right though, Father. When I talked to Mrs. McFly, she was feeling much better. Mr. McFly was able to make them medicine using his Biomech Station.*

Oh, good. I'd forgotten for a minute he still works at the Labs. I'd say I have no idea how he juggles two jobs, except that I do. Sort of. We really need to get back to DocBots in the near future.
Verne: *Affirmative, Father.*
So then, how are they doing? All ready for the trip?
Verne: *Mrs. McFly said they were. They took the day off because of their illness and upcoming vacation. They did not open the store, and only did baked a few items to restock.*
Good, they deserve a day off. They work themselves ragged trying to keep that bakery going.
Verne: *Affirmative. Mrs. McFly told me she spent the day mostly lounging around on her bed, enjoying the quiet.

She also indulged in some painting. She said she and George don't get to perform creatively as often as they'd like.*

I can imagine. Frankly, I don't really know the last time I really did anything with painting.
Verne: *I paint all the time. I find it very enjoyable.*
Heh, I should take up the brush again for a while. What about George?
Verne: *He is a Knowledge Sim, like us. He spent the day in pursuit of his skills. Specifically Body and Charisma. Mrs. McFly said she quite liked the new, fitter him. Her tone of voice was quite odd then. A little husky. I don't believe she was ill. . . .*

Verne: *Very well. He also spent an extended amount of time talking to your friend Katrina, according to her. I think they've become friends. They certainly share a love of the paranormal.*

I know! Feels very natural to me that they'd like each other. Don't let Kat catch you calling her Katrina, though. She hates her full name.
Verne: *Oh, I see. I shall refer to her as Kat from now on.*
Good idea. Well, I suppose that'll be the last we'll hear from them until they come back from their vacation.

True. I realliy hope they have a good time. They really do deserve a rest. Level Nine Bakery in their home -- I don't know how they do it.

*laugh* Exactly. Though speaking of which, I think I'll get a drink of the Elixir myself. We may not have a bakery, but we do have a busy toddler and two pets.

Even though it's not yet summer for any of us -- still spring or winter, depending on the family. We didn't do anything special, but apparently Marty's brother Dave held a small barbeque/housewarming party to celebrate. Information comes to us courtesy of Gypsy's sister April, who attended the party, along with the rest of the McFlys. She says he has a very nice house -- just the thing for a kid looking to make it as an executive of some sort. He's gotten himself a job in the local paper publishing horoscopes, so he's on his way.

From what she said, it was pretty much the usual party antics. Dave grilled up burgers for everyone. I wonder why everyone feels compelled to grill on the Fourth?
-Gypsy: Imagine it's simply a summer weather thing. Of course, that really doesn't apply to us. . . .-

There was also a lot of pillow-fighting. I suppose there's just something about smacking someone around with a pillow.
-Gypsy: Healthy way to release aggression, anyway.-
Verne: *Indeed.*

April spent most of her time with either Dave or Marty, as is only natural. She also gave us a quick update on Linda -- apparently Marty's sister has moved into the "house of pink."

She also has an odd fondess for the wolves populating the neighborhood, to the point of playing fetch with them at Dave's. Huh -- I always found them a nuisance.
Verne: *I think we would be more favorably inclined toward them if they didn't dig up our yards so much.*
Hmm, point.

Anyway, midway through the party they got some surprise guests -- Dave had forgotten about the welcome committee that shows up when you freshly move in. So my brother-in-law Sabastian and Arazel's wife Carla, along with someone named Jandaly, joined the party. Luckily Sabastian knowing George helped make the transition fairly smooth. Still, a rather weird situation.

Didn't stop April from getting into a brief water balloon fight with Sabastian, though. :p
-Gypsy: She reports that he fights dirty. I think she's just annoyed she lost.-
Could be both, he IS 3 Nice.

At any rate, everyone had a wonderful time. The evening ended with people sitting by the campfire and roasting the occasional marshmallow. Sounds like a good way to end a party to me.

So, yes, a good showing by Marty's brother. Nice to see he can get into the party spirit too.

Hey, how are things back home? I hear my new baby sister had a birthday! Welcome to toddlerhood, Tina. One nice point, huh? You really seem to hit the extremes on that, Dad.
She has a point -- Julia herself is 10 Nice. I have no idea how it dropped to 1 with Martina.
-Gypsy: Could be worse -- at least she HAS a nice point.-
Things here are good. I'm still doing a lot of painting. Sold a masterpiece today -- go me.

I'm also into butterfly-hunting. There's lots of the things around here, for some reason. They're really hard to catch, though. I was hoping for a jar of them for a picture, but maybe I'll just have to paint a swarm from memory.

Harriet's thing these days is looking for treasure. She regularly puts holes in the yard searching for stuff.

No big finds yet, though she did find a neat little bone the Paleontology Department was willing to pay 55 simoleons for. I tried to convince her to send it to Einy, but no dice.

I'm sure Einstein will live. :p Though that's a pretty interesting find. Makes me wonder what might be buried underneath our yard.
Verne: *Perhaps I shall take a look tomorrow.*
Maybe we all will, just for fun.
Life at college is pretty good -- the classes are interesting, and most of the kids are pretty cool. Though this one girl called Vicki -- Dad, I think she's got it in for me just because I'm green. She keeps kicking over our garbage can. I confronted her on it, and she said, "What do you care, you can't smell it with no nose." Jesus! I really hope she gets tired and leaves us alone soon.

*fumes* So my firstborn is an alien. So what?! She's a perfectly capable person, and I look forward to seeing her prove this Vicki wrong about everything. *resists urge to go up to campus and confront the person bullying his little girl*

Aunt Emily came to see us the other day. I know she's all quiet and worry-ful and stuff, but she can be pretty cool. She and Harriet did the school cheer together -- it was funny.

We talked about maybe seeing the world a little after college. Somebody in this neighborhood has to go on a trip. Aunt Emily figured we should go someplace as a family. Wouldn't mind bumming around with you guys at the beach or something. ;)

Ahh, yes, the elusive trip. . . Of course, right now the main issue is Martina's toddlerhood. But after she turns into a child -- yeah, maybe we could take a nice family trip someplace.
Verne: *I would not mind visiting the Far East myself.*

Anyway, our phone's been getting a workout lately. People to see, friends to call, you know the drill. Soooo glad we don't get a separate bill for that. I'd be afraid to look.

And I've been checking out the night sky for Logic. This may sound weird, but I'm half-hoping to see some aliens. I'd really like to know some more about the other part of my heritage.

Yes, that's not really something I can help her with. I was under anesthesia for most of the procedures they performed on me. I don't even clearly remember what they looked like. And the idea of my little girl going up on an alien spaceship, even if they are technically one-half of her people. . . . Hmmm. Well, I guess I can only wish you the best of luck, honey.

It's very odd, you know -- ever since Martina became a toddler, our social lives seem to be IMPROVING. Case in point, today we were invited over to my sister and brother-in-law's house for a party. Not that parents never have social lives, but you think having a young child would preclude such things.
Verne: *Yes, but most parents do not have the advantage of a live-in babysitter.*
We really ought to start paying you or something.
Verne: *Verbal gratitude is sufficient, Father. I like my new baby sister. Though if you insist on more material rewards, I have some thoughts.*

Anyway, it was a nice little get-together. Most of the guests were the old college crowd -- me, Holly, John, and Arazel. The only ones who weren't part of that group were Gypsy and George McFly. Yes, George joined in the party -- he and Lorraine don't spend their ENTIRE lives baking.

It was good to see him outside the bakery, actually. He seemed a lot calmer not having to schmooze up customers. He also admitted he and Lorraine are really looking forward to their upcoming vacation. "And when we get back, we're revamping the contents of the store a bit. Having to keep track of everything is making us NUTS!"
-Gypsy: We can sympathize a bit.-
I know. I still have to get back to DocBots at some point. Anyway, he looked to be having fun. He and Holly really hit it off, actually. I guess her interest in the supernatural and his in science fiction meshed nicely.
-Gypsy: Well, you two are pretty close friends, right?-

It was the usual party antics for us -- pillow fights, dirty jokes, the lot.

And of course a few people found the instruments and treated us all to a concert. We're very predictable in that sense.

Emily also made a delicious chicken pot pie. Mmmm, new recipe.

I most appreciated the chance to get caught up with Emily and Sabastian -- it's been a bit. "Oh, we're not doing anything too interesting at the moment. It's all about the cat right now. She's fricking adorable, you know. Especially when she gets going with her toys."

Indeed, Heidi was a favorite of all the guests. She is a cute cat.
-Gypsy: *playfully* Not as cute as Sigmund, though.-
Sigmund: *agreeing mow*

Emily and Sabastian's lives don't revolve solely around their kitty, though. Sabastian's still earning skills to prepare for his eventually career shift to the military. And Emily's still doing artistic endeavours for her job, taking pictures and making paintings. Granted, Heidi DOES serve as a model for such a lot, but still. They're happy, and that's all that matters.

All in all, a nice few hours out. It was good to hang out with some of the old crowd again. And it's very nice to see Gypsy's definitely one of the family.
-Gypsy: *smile* I think I was even before we got married. Your mother certainly seemed to think so.-
She was a smart woman.

Now, we just have to figure out what social event we'll be invited to next.

We may have missed mine last year, but I'll be damned if we miss his. Since Marty just had his finals (A+! He's graduated summa cum laude! Jennifer too!), we kept it to a small get-together. Verne watched Martina while we all headed out to the local skating rink. Marty was pretty excited at first -- "Hey, anyplace that has a deep-sea diver surrounded by jets of flame has GOTTA be cool somehow!"

But inside -- well, the skating rinks were open, but nothing else was! I talked to the bartender on duty -- apparently the owners pushed them into opening early. A stupid decision, in my opinion.
-Gypsy: I dunno. There were a fair amount of Sims there. At least enough to block the skating rink for a bit.-

Luckily for us, we're quite capable of making our own fun, thank you. We played a lot of red hands and shot the breeze. Marty was pleased to hear about Martina growing up -- not so pleased to her about her 1 Nice point. "What the hell? How do you two get such a grouchy toddler?"
I could only shrug. "We'll be encouraging the hell out of her, is all I can say."

On Marty's side of the equation, he and Jennifer are doing quite well at Urele house. Marty's very proud of graduating so high, as well he should be. "I keep getting congratulated on it. It's a real ego-booster."

Their lemon tree is doing well -- Marty and Jennifer are going to stay until at least the first batch of lemons are picked. Nothing says good times like fresh lemonade, right?

Marty's keeping up with his painting, Jennifer with the robot-making. Her latest creation came out a little flawed, though. "Yeah, miswired the hydrobot and had to adjust it. Didn't that happen to you the first time you made one, Doc?"
"It did," I admitted, blushing. "Just be glad yours didn't try to rampage all over the house spraying water."
"Yeah, that would have been fun."

Marty, Jennifer, and I decided to go ahead and try the skating rink while we were there. I mean, it was the only source of entertainment around. It was pretty fun -- though we all fell on our ass at least once. I fell right out of the gate. Talk about a bad first impression.
-Gypsy: *giggle* That's why I kept to the sidelines.-

Sure you didn't just want to watch me skate? You seemed very appreciative later.
-Gypsy: Heh. Spring is in the air, what can I say? Marty and Jennifer were even loopier than us.-

After we got our hormones under control, it was off to the main point of the evening -- giving Marty his birthday present. Marty had told us about Jennifer going out and fetching a desk "for some reason" with a confused look.

What he didn't know was, that was a ruse while she picked up a certain item I had spotted in a store. Jennifer presented him with his actual gift as night fell. "We really think you'll like it."

Marty did. "Holy shit, a skateboard! This is awesome! Thanks!"

He sent us a quick e-mail about trying it out later -- apparently it's one of the funnest things he's done. Talk about a smooth ride, Doc. Who needs a car when you've got one of these babies?

-Gypsy: Aww, I'm glad he likes it so much.-
Me too. :) I think he'll always be a bit of a kid at heart.
Anyway, despite the fact the venue could have used work, it was a fun outing together. Marty and Jennifer invited us back to pizza at our place, but we had to get back to the toddler before she drove Verne and/or the pets nuts.
Verne: *She was eating dog food again.*
Yeah, we're definitely going to have to keep a close eye on her. Anyway, we'll see them again when we introduce our friends to her.

Other than that, it's been pretty much business as usual. We all take turns tending the little greenhouse we've set up. I've planted some more tomatoes now that we've gotten a good amount of compost.

The pond's unfrozen now -- at last, I say. So now we can start on getting fresh fish to eat. Verne tried it tonight -- any luck?

Verne: *Indeed. I caught a particularly large example of a largemouth bass.*

O.O Great Scott, that thing is huge!
Verne: *I am aware. I put it in my inventory for safekeeping. I think Sigmund can smell it on me, though. He keeps licking my joints.*

As for me, a lot of my spare time is spent at the toy bench. I want Martina to have only the best, you know.

No, my nephew hasn't joined the ranks of the living dead. Jason simply experienced an extreme case of frostbite from sleeping in the attic. They're planning on remodeling.

From Marty's house we learn Marion's maxed out her cleaning skill. *pause* At least, I think it's cleaning skill. It's been a while.
And April sent us these update pictures of Dave and Linda becoming adults. Different outfits from before, but they've still avoided the "grow up in the stupidest clothes available" curse.
Hopefully that'll tide you over for a bit. Feel free to yell at docsgirl to get a move on and just play with Bon Voyage.

Well, I guess we're officially back as of now. Sorry about the long wait again, everyone, but things seem to be fixed now. We hope.
Anyway, today I attended an interesting wedding -- that of Kat Von Nostrand and Mark Mathews. Mark being a vampire, this is the first wedding we've had that had to be held mostly at night. Kat invited us all near sundown -- all being myself, Marty, Emily, Jenny Sprays, and Edwin Sharpe (their old friend from college). Apparently they just wanted a small wedding with friends, as neither are close to their parents.

It was nice to see Kat again -- we chatted and played some red hands together while the others got chips from the fridge.

"How have things been?" I asked.
"Quiet, which is good I guess. Mark and I have been doing lots of skilling -- I spent most of the morning playing chess."

"Ah. Any job prospects?"
"Not yet, but I'm sure something will turn up. I haven't been looking very hard, granted. Wedding planning and all that. Mark's more ambivalent about a job, because of his condition. We're thinking that, if we ever have kids, he'll stay home and help out how he can. I mean, we'll have to get a nanny for the daytime probably, but if he avoids windows. . . ."
I nodded. "I suppose this means a honeymoon's out of the question too."
"Well, sort of. We're thinking of going to that new camping place -- all those trees might help. Just have to find a hotel that's vampire-friendly. Keep your fingers crossed."
"I will." I glanced out the window at the set-up. "Rather goth-like, isn't it?"
Kat giggled. "Hey, my soon-to-be husband IS a vampire. It seemed appropriate. Let me tell you, though, setting all this up took some work. I had to put in bathroom stalls, make sure the cowplant was fed and her door locked--"

"Always important," I agreed, feeling a shiver. I do not like cowplants.
"And then there was the weather to contend with," Kat continued. "We were lagging a season behind you guys. Luckily I got one of those new weather-changing devices to catch us up. I really didn't want to risk getting married in a snowstorm."

"Yeah, I'm kind of glad Gypsy and I got married before Seasons," I admitted. "Less to worry about. You must have been running all over the place."
"Pretty much so. I made sure to energize so I wouldn't collapse of exhaustion during the ceremony."

Night fell about then, leading to Mark joining us downstairs. He and I had a chat while Kat socialized with the rest of her guests. I don't know him as well as I do Kat, but he's a nice enough fellow. He gave me plenty of info on vampires to pass onto Holly later.

The ceremony happened shortly after nightfall, once we'd all gotten to know each other a little better. It was a lovely service, to be sure -- Kat and Mark love each other very much. Three bolt chemistry -- isn't it great? :)
-Gypsy: *snuggles* I'll certainly agree with that.-

Unfortunately, it was marred slightly by the fact that only three of us showed up. Edwin and Jenny got engrossed in a chess game upstairs and failed to notice we'd gone outside. I think Kat and Mark were rather hurt. Edwin WAS one of their closest friends from college.

Still, it was a beautiful wedding. Kat and Mark forewent a toasting set due to possible bladder issues, but made sure to cut the cake. Mark turned out to be a proponent of "stuff your partner's face," which was amusing.

And it was darn good cake too. Very moist and fluffy. Even Edwin and Jenny managed to abandon their game long enough to come down and get a piece. Of course, the party ended before they could finish theirs. Perhaps it serves them right for missing the main event.

At the end of the day, though, you couldn't say that the party was anything but good. Kat and Mark got Roof Raiser status! I attribute it mostly to that wonderful cake. ;)

And now Kat and Mark can settle down to a life of wedded bliss. The best of luck to you both, my friends! :D

Now we have some prepwork of our own to do. The next time you see us, we'll have Free Time installed! Supposedly the last EP altogether. Considering all the things we can do, it's a bit of a relief. I wonder what predestined hobby I'll have. . . .

Hi everyone, it's docsgirl. I'm sure you're all suprised that I'm not updating here with a birthday update to Doc. Thing is, I can't. For some reason I cannot fathom, Bon Voyage has decided it does not like my video card anymore. After playing the McFly Bakery last Sunday, all further attempts to use the game have met with failure -- first a Blue Screen of Death, then monitor flashing every time I try to enter a neighborhood. You can read more about the problem here.

So, it appears we're going to go on a hiatus for now. It peeves me off that, right after I get ready to send my first family on vacation, the game throws a shit fit.

Happy birthday, revison_doc. I'm sorry you won't be here this year.

She says it is a bit of a relief -- Daniel's apparently already progressed to Silver in Cashiering. Jane made herself busy cleaning and cooking during this last session. Problem is, she didn't know quite how many to make of each dish. . . .
-Gypsy: Ahh, surpluses?-
Basically. George won't have to worry about crepes for a while.

However, it is all appreciated, surpluses or no, and George and Lorraine make sure to show it.

-Gypsy: I'm sure they do. Any more positive news from the front?-
Lorraine's doing quite well with her badges. "I got a Bronze in Sales and a Bronze in Restocking! I finally feel a little more useful around this place."

And they did hit Rank 9 -- 100 Customer Loyalty stars, can you believe it? DocBots is only -- Great Scott, I've forgotten! I think we've been away too long.

We'll work something out once Martina's grown up a little. Toddlers can keep themselves amused a bit more easily than babies.

I'm just glad there's really nothing around our business lot that can cause mass panic.

It started thunderstorming at the McFly homestead, and two of their palm trees got struck by lightning -- once while the business was in full swing, once after they'd closed. Lorraine was not happy that the first fire cost them some customer loyalty points. "How were we supposed to prevent that?! Not to mention they didn't have run out here and gawk at it! Then again, I did that myself. . . ."

Not to mention George set the stove on fire trying to catch up on their orders. The fire company is getting rich off them.

-Gypsy: *wince* Maybe they need to take a vacation.-
Exactly what Lorraine said. They're taking Wednesday off to catch up with the cooking, then they leave Thursday for Twikki Island.

-Gypsy: Oh! Well, good for them. We all know they work their tails off.-
Indeed. It was Marty who suggested Twikki -- he asked his Mom if she could tell him about a couple of the hot spots. Methinks he's planning his honeymoon.

Dave and Linda have officially left the campus, as recently related by April to my wife. Care to tell the readers about it, Gypsy?
-Gypsy: Not at all. It was a very nice sendoff -- Dave and Linda had their parents over for a little extra get-together time. Dave didn't think they'd gotten to see enough of them at Marty's party.

Apparently the bubble blower got quite the workout. April got a picture so she could transfer it to painting later.-
Verne: *Can we have a bubble blower?*
Maybe. Those things are addictive. Though it is kind of nice to be able to float.

-Gypsy: Dave grew up around noon -- April made sure to give him a nice sendoff. ;) Those two are so sweet together.-
I know. It's nice to see so many happy couples around.

However, the real question is, did Dave get hit with the clothes curse?

Gotta get friendly with the classmates first.

I agree. Then again, Marty's at permanent platinum, so I doubt he cares as much.
Since Dave is graduating soon, I decided to hold a little family get-together for everybody. We hadn't seen each other in a long time! Mom and Dad were only too happy to come -- I think they miss us. Dave and Linda came too (natch), but Dave insisted I invite April too. I didn't have a problem with that -- she is his fiancee. I would have asked you, but Mom asked that I keep it to just the McFlys and fiancees this time around. Sorry. :(

Aww, it's okay, Marty. You don't have to invite me to every party.

We had a good time -- there was the usual crowd around the instruments. I was really surprised to hear Dad on the guitar -- he's really good! Maybe that's where I get it from. Dave's not bad either -- we're a very musical famiy, I guess. Anyway, we made a small fortune in tips to each other.

There were also the endless rounds of pillow fights and red hands -- you guys know the drill.

Someone explain to me why the favorite games of Sims are either beating each other senseless with pillows, or smacking each others' hands.

All in all, another huge success. I'm good at this party thing -- if I weren't so intent on being a rock star, I might want to be a Professional Party Guest.

And I gotta admit, it was nice to have the whole clan together for once. It really hadn't dawned on me how much I'd missed Mom and Dad until I saw them in person. I really gotta start calling more often.

Is it possible to have guilt by proxy? Because now I'm feeling bad about not talking to my own family as often these days.
-Gypsy: *pats* It's all right, Emmett. Everyone feels that way every once in a while. And I'm sure Emily won't let your relationship fade away. Perhaps we can host a family reunion later -- maybe when Martina's old enough to remember it.-

Marion and Kitty had John Morte over afterwards too, so we've had people coming and going all day. They seemed to have fun together.

I'm still painting, Jennifer's still working on her robots. I'm hoping to sell one more masterpiece before we leave, while Jennifer wants that Silver badge. You definitely have to hire her, Doc -- she's becoming almost as obsessed as you are.

I am not obsessed! I merely enjoy crafting. Though I would be happy to welcome her to the team once they've graduated.

Everett and Jenny are a bit more serious, doing a lot of skilling together. Though they're not immune to the charms of the radio or such.

They're probably just waiting for a special moment. I wouldn't be surprised if Jenny or Everett asked the other during Jenny's graduation party. And there's plenty of time still for Suzy and Calvin to have a date for that purpose. *grin* Remember how I proposed to you?

Most of their free time these days is spent skilling -- Creativity seems to be a popular choice. Calvin's become quite the artist.

They also got a visit from the cow -- who, surprisingly enough, caused no trouble. Jenny jokingly said it was probaly from being around predators. I know I'd be on the straight and narrow if I thought I was in danger of being eaten.

So yes, a bit of a lull at the FurKin residence. Jenny admits that, beside the Camryn visit, the most exciting thing that happened was her catching some butterflies.

Then again, their last day there is sure to be a lot more action-packed, so they're probably appreciating the lull.
